Meet the Baker

Philippa Larbi will be serving her mouth watering homemade cakes at the 12th May Sugar and Spice flea market.

Owner of Let 'Em Eat Cake Bakery, Philippa has been baking for a couple of years.  She never really thought of herself as a baker and didn't give herself enough credit for precision so became a good cook instead.  A few years ago she had the idea of a completely homemade Christmas and found herself baking cakes, mince pies and all manner of things!

 

The following year she tried more and more recipes and really enjoyed the methodical and almost scientific nature of baking.  Philippa found this all so unexpected, and her love of baking grew from there.  Seeing her family and friends enjoying her home bakes she decided to start her own business and after much planning and work, Let 'em eat cake was born.

Quite oddly, Philippa is more a savoury than sweet person but when she eats sweet things prefers simple tastes, her favourite ice cream flavour being vanilla, loves a simple digestive biscuit and Victoria sandwich cake is her favourite cake with a mascarpone and vanilla cream filling and a good quality strawberry jam.  Yum!

Philippa's cakes can be enjoyed at next Saturday's market at St Mary's Church, South Ealing.  Open 11-4pm £1 admission, children free.
